The Kansas Group stayed at the quaint Hotel Pey in Boí not far from Taüll, site of the falles. After dinner, the group headed to Taüll to participate in the festivities. The falles are town festivals in celebration of summer.

TORCHES PARADE THROUGH TOWN

In Taüll, the festivities are especially colorful and full of tradition.

TORCHESAt midnight, the townsfolk gather to witness the lighting of an enormous bonfire on the mountain top and the lighting of the torches. Men race down the mountain to the town center with the torches lit.

PINE TORCHES BEING READIEDMen from the town build pine torches which are transported to a nearby mountain.

After the torch procession, the town celebrates with a concert and all-night dance in the town center. This year "Elvis" visited Taüll and sang for the assembled masses.
