VIEW OF BARCELONA, looking toward the Port

Barcelona lies on a coastal plain between the mouths of the Riu Besós and the Riu Llobregat. The city is surrounded by mountains: Muntanya Pelada, on the northeast, Tibidabo, on the northwest, and on the southwest Montjuïc, site of museums, parks, and historic monuments. The city begins at its port and slowly spreads inland with wonderful shaded boulevards and distinctive neighborhoods.
